April 22, 2008 – The Center petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to protect the Las Vegas buckwheat under the federal Endangered Species Act.

March 18, 2008 – The Center petitioned the Nevada Division of Forestry to list the Las Vegas buckwheat under the state’s Endangered Species Act.

November 3, 2008 – The state forester of Nevada announced public hearings on new proposed regulations under the Nevada Administrative Code to protect the Las Vegas buckwheat as “critically endangered and threatened” under Nevada state law.
