APPlause for the Center

Since the Center for Biological Diversity started in 1989, we've been top-rated by the American Institute of Philanthropy and garnered plenty of attention from all kinds of other organizations, publications and individuals. Here are just a few of the countless things we've heard that make us proud and help inspire us to be all the things our supporters say.

"The Center for Biological Diversity is possibly the most effective environmental organization in existence. They are completely dedicated to preserving endangered species regardless of size or popularity. I am a monthly, sustaining contributor and will continue for as long as necessary."
— Cristy M., via GreatNonprofits.com

"They are pound for pound, dollar for dollar, the most effective conservation organization in the country."
— LA Weekly

"Since the Endangered Species Act was passed in 1973, 70 percent of the plant and animal species given protection under the law were listed because of efforts by the center."
— Edward Humes, Pulitzer Prize-winning author, in Eco Barons

“I have supported the Center for quite awhile now — the reason is because these guys are effective. ... Kudos to Kierán for the quarterly briefings, and the way the staff makes donors feel cherished and special.”
— Joan DaVanzo, Leadership Circle member

"The Center for Biological Diversity is tenacious! They never stop fighting to save endangered animals and their habitats, and most important of all, they get results. ... I wish all nonprofits were as successful at saving all living things. This planet would be much better off if they were."
— Lorik, via GreatNonprofits.com

"It’s millennial environmentalism, combat-style. They’re not selling calendars full of idyllic nature photography. They’re throwing torts like hand grenades … Like it or not, it’s a strategy that has made the Center one of the most effective regional environmental groups in the country, and certainly the most in-your-face.”
— John Skow, Outside Magazine

"I put my support behind the Center's efforts because they put so much care into every aspect of their organization. They put extraordinary effort into their work and get outstanding results in their efforts to preserve this planet for future generations."
— Conor Ryan, youngest-ever Leadership Circle member

"This stunning organization is smart, reasonable and passionate all at the same time. They pick their issues carefully, explain them thoroughly, and follow through skillfully. Their staff clearly knows what they're doing. There is no check I write with greater pleasure and confidence. Five Stars!"
— nosman, via GreatNonprofits.com

“I think it's important to help Center for Biological Diversity because they know how to use the money wisely, they know how to save the animals with money, and they know what they are doing.”
— Austin Lee, fourth grade, Los Angeles

"The website for Center for Biological Diversity is one of the best sites to read for saving the planet. ... I wish every site was as easy and interesting to read. The emails that they send are a comfortable length so I can get a quick read and then go back to get more information that I want when I have the time. The photography is wonderful and makes me more interested in reading the content."
